4 of my 6 Singapore shrimp came from PetSmart (one was even dropped on the floor), and I think most of us know what they are doing now.
I like Blinky! When your tipsy, you can call her "Blinkarrrrrrrrrrghhhh!"
The name "Blinky" reminds me of the Barbie horse from the late '80's named "blinky". When you pulled on her mane, it made her eys blink!!!! LMAO

Well "Blinky the Gladiator" it is....
I figure after the hell it went through in PetSmart and losing an eye there it deserves some credit for surviving other than being called Blinky hehe
It will be rooming with 40+ cherries real soon. I want to try to breed the Asian Filter Shrimps, I know they need saltwater similar to Amanos. I will have to do research....

I'm pretty sure the eye will grow back. They do on my M. Rosenbergii, which are true Gladiators. Mine are always getting into battles and losing body parts as the fight for territory. When that happens you'll need to figure out a new name.

Really, I thought the eyes were the only body part that does not regenerate. Interesting!

I've seen it, so I know it happens, but for those that only believe a published papers (not you Neon):

In M. Rosenbergii they cut off one eye stalk of the females and this makes them less agressive to each other for some reason. This allows them to put a large number of berried females together for collecting the larva. After the eggs hatch the female molts and the eye stalk grows back. In my experience with battle damage, it take more than one molt.

Tell me what is going wrong with the algae. Mine is going strong. I can get you another start.

Is the algae culter what they call "Green Water"? I actually started a culture inadvertantly by adding some pond snails and duck weed into a clear jar. The water is green now

Well, it's not getting very yellow. It's getting slightly tinted with yellow, but's more clear than anything. I think it's my light, but it could also be because I think I waited too long to start the culture, and I'm out of ferts because my little *darling* daughter knocked over the container.

The ferts are Kent Pro-Culture. You can order from the internet. I have been told that you can also use a plant fertilizer called "plant-tabs" at half strength.
You should keep this stuff away from kids though. Ihave no idea what would happen if they drank or ate it.

I'll have to get more.
She didn't drink it, but when I was trying to measure out what to put in the culture, she came by and knocked it over. She was immediately cleaned and the kitchen counter sterilized. I have other ferts and stuff that I keep in a DIY lock box.
