I just bought a little can of a new food that is worth sharing about here. I came across it at an out of town fish store and was very pleased to find a new and interesting food for my shrimp.
It is "Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies: Mixed Seaweed Flakes (Porphyra, Palmaria, and Ulva spp.)" produced by Two Little Fishies Inc.
Ingredients: 100% dried seaweed
It consists of finely chopped bits of green, red, and purple seaweed.
My shrimp love this stuff and I feel good feeding them something that is 100% natural with no added anything. Protein content is lower than your average fish food, and I believe that is a good thing for shrimp.

What type of shrimp do you have and how long have they been fed the new food? If it is that good I might just try itMy shrimp love this stuff and I feel good feeding them something that is 100% natural with no added anything. Thanks.

I only have Cherries and have been feeding this food for the past month.
I am feeding it along with the Omega One Veggie Rounds which have whole kelp and spirulina as the first ingredient before the animal based ingredients. I take a tiny chunk from a wafer and crush it into sand sized particles before feeding.
I am big fan of Omega one, as they use only fresh whole fish and other seafood from Alaska rather than the seafood byproducts of unknown origin that others use. They bring the fresh fish to their factory on their own commercial fishing boat! Who knows the origin of or what is really in that "fish meal" that others use in their products?
All in all, I am happy that the processed foods that I do feed are composed of very natural whole foods with a minimum of unnecessary ingredients.
If only I ate as well as my shrimp!

I also use the OmegaOne Veggie Rounds but instead of crumbling it into sand particles I take about 1/8th of it and drop it in the tank. It automatically sinks and the shrimps rush to get it. Since the shrimps eat pretty fast, the food does not pollute the water.
Speaking of growing algae, I was thinking of taking a few rocks (aquarium safe) and placing it in a jar with water. By giving it direct sunlight I hope to grow some 'algae rocks' which could be a useful and beneficial food for the shrimps. I'll try that out and see what happens.
