No, you just won't have the water pressure to do both. Sort of like when you are in the shower and someone flushes the toilet. The filter gives so little back pressure and allows such high flow it just doesn't work. If you were doing a trickle system with a pressure regulator, it would problably be fine.

great, thanks! I get it now. I think when I do get this going, it will include a low-pressure regulator as well as a needle valve to control flow to each tank. Sounds like my idea is a little different from your setup, because I want to have a continuous drip flow through my tanks. Whereas yours is high-pressure to refill the tanks after your water changes?

Exactly right. I'm thinking of adding the drip system, but I need to add some sump pumps with level switches. My basement has no floor drains.

ahhh, that would be a nice detail. I'm hoping (when I own my own residence) to build an aquatics room. A floor drain would be an excellent thing to have. Thanks for another idea ;-)

I'm really enjoying this filter! I can now do a water change on a 20 gallon tank in about 10 minutes. Turn on the python that is connected to my overflow sump and suck the tank down to half, turn on the hose out of my filter and fill the tank back up. Refill rate is 4 GPM so the tank is back up to normal in about 2-3 minutes.
Are you temp. matching using warm water out of the tap with this filter?

That would be great. It takes me 6 hours to do a 15 gallon water change. Fill 5 gallon pail with cold water. Drop in aquarum heater. Wait 2 hours for the water to reach 76F. Add water. Repeat.

It sounds like it filters all the bad stuff out so you no longer need water conditioner?
Does this filter change the kh,gh,ph, or TDS numbers at all?

I've read some info on this filter but it doesn't say anything about kh,gh,or ph so I'm guessing not.
It does say the Kold Ster-il filters out a lot of stuff. So it seems like it should lower the TDS numbers. Have you tested to see if it changed the TDS numbers?

I just got my Kold Ster-il filter a few day ago. It's a bit of a pain to use because I don't a have a place to mount it. So when I use it I have to set it in the tub and hook it up to the bathroom sink with Python hose. Then fill my 5 gallon pail with it. But it does make water changes a lot faster.

It's great that I can now temp match my water using warm water out of the tap with this filter. = no more running cold water and warming it up.

I can do water changes without using water conditioner.

Two days after I did a 30% water change with my Kold Ster-il filter, 2 of my Malawa shrimp which are over 6 months old became berried for the first time.
