Shrimp and Fish Eggs

My gouramis are spawning yet again, and it got me thinking. What will algae/detritus-eating shrimp do if they come across fish eggs? I am not really concerned with this current spawn -- there is no way any shrimp is getting past papa.

Anyone have experience with this?

I have never seen shrimp actively eat eggs. They might be able to pick at it though if they try some and find it tasty. My experience is that shrimp have to get used to certain food items before they start eating them regularly. Maybe with eggs it's the same thing.

There was actually a great article link I had, but I guess I didn't keep it that showed a gentleman actually using ghost shrimp to keep the fungus off of his fish eggs. Instead of using a chemical, Methylene Blue, the shrimp rolled the eggs and kept them clean. But, I wonder exactly what type of "ghost shrimp" they were. The article was from Asia.
