Hi, im pretty new to this forum
Veggie Wafers 'for algae eaters"
Yea i just bought some today, they are from HBH company. The reason why im asking if it is safe or not is because i've read that iron may be lethal to shrimps and at the end of the ingredients are "zinc protienate, copper protienate, manganese protienate and iron protienate." Are these ingredients safe?
Has anyone used them before or had experences with them?
thanks

I have not tried the HBH wafers before, but I have tried the Wardley type, which also has similar ingredients. In that case the heavy metal content was so low that it did not affect the shrimp.

I feed my shrimp HBH products including the Algae Wafers and Crab & Lobster Bites and they have not displayed any ill effects. In fact, I've breed nearly 1,500 cherry shrimp and 100 crystal reds in the past year on this diet.

I threw in a wafer some time ago and it seemed more like food for the snails. The shrimps hardly touched it, they seemed more content forging for debris around the tank. My tank is pretty heavily planted, so I guess maybe that why or is there something wrong with them?. I'll post a picture of the tank up once i figure out how to do so. [/img]

If you keep throwing in whole wafers without having hundreds of shrimp to finish it off, then you'll be having dying shrimp soon and a snail explosion. A whole wafer is overkill in most cases. If your shrimp are not eating it, that usually means that they already have plenty to eat.
