Dan Spotts is a professional breeder of these shrimp for the farm trade. He told me that the optimal growing temperature is 82 degrees F. They do fine in lower temperatures, but will grow more slowly.
He is the fellow that wrote the article on keeping them as pets I referred you too in an earlier post. He confirmed they like subdued light or the use of green water.
Hidey-holes are required for them to survive molting without canibalization.
