Im going to set up a shrimp tank after spending alot of time reading these forums. I will also be using it as a place to grow out all my clippings from my 150G.

I would like to know what the ideal tank is for a shrimp tank?

I will be using fluorite as my substrate and probably a HOB with a sponge over the intake.

Money is no issue, size either.

I was looking heavily at a 40G Breeder or a 60G Cube. Maybe a 20-30 Long?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get the tank setup by the end of the week.

i personally like shrimp tanks to be long then tall. as later on u will find out the shrimps spend most of there time crawling around. as the japanese breeders ive met have always told me the minimum req for height on a shrimp tank is 1ft, and there really isnt any point in going about 2ft at max. but the more width and length is more beneficial to the shrimps active space. as the height is only for when they do there matting dance and it looks more appealing to the human eye

The ideal tank for shrimp is as big as possible (easier to keep up good water parameters with larger tanks), with a sand substrate (so food particles don't fall in between gravel and rot) and has some fast growing stem plants (my favorite is Najas) growing in it. Then you will just have to match the shrimp you want to the water parameters you have (very important!!) and you're good to go.
