I just got some Crystal Red Shrimp in the mail today. I let the bag float in the tank for 30 minutes, and then added them to the tank. Are they suppose to act like cherries, and pick at the ground and leaves constantly? Because mine don't. They have been swimming around the tank, near the upper portions, sticking on glass, and occasionally landing on leaves just to take off again. The red and white portions are a faded color, some of them are colored strong, but some of them seem like they haven't colored up. Is this normal?

What is their typically demeanor and behavior?

10 gallon no-tech tank: java moss, eco complete, 50+ cherry shrimp
Ammonia:0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate: 0-15 ppm
Ph: 7.5
Temperature: 26 c
Food: Hikari Algae wafers - what else should I feed?

I'm really new to CRS and need your help, and personal tank experiences.

Your PH is way too high for Crystal Reds. They will most likely die one by one over time. They need soft, acidic water.

Since I have updated the species profiles with water parameter information it's always a good idea to look at a species' requirements before buying them.
