Half-eaten Bamboo Shrimp

Post by Cardinal »

Hi there, I have a well planted 120 litre Juwel tank containing two bamboo shrimp (only 1 now), 9 Cardinal Tetras, 4 Pearl Danios, 4 X-Ray Tetra, 2 Corys, 1 Suckermouth Catfish and 1 Bulldog Pleco and the other day I noticed that one of the shrimp had been half eaten and was in pieces across the tank - I was really gutted. The fish have been in the tank for almost a year now and the shrimp for 6 months, all the readings for the tank are the same as they have always been and I am just a little concerned as to what happened to my poor shrimp, Fry (the other is called Scampi)? How long do they live, maybe he died from old age? The shrimp are actually the largest species in the tank.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My guess is that it just died and the fish just had at it. I understand that Bamboos are long lived, 5 years or more.
