I was just wondering if Palaemonetes sp. will breed and and have young that will grow in freshwater?

You should browse the forum a little before you post. The thread right next to yours was discussing this exact issue.

Always read the shrimp varieties section before posting and learn to use the search feature. Search using both the genus species or genus and the common name. In this case Ghost Shrimp, Glass shrimp, grass shrimp, etc. You'll find a ton of cool stuff on this variety.

Yes they can be bred in fresh water, but it is a challenge.

The one in the varieties page is Palaemonetes paludosus not Palaemonetes sp.

Palaemonetes sp. just means that it is some species of Palaemonetes, there isn't a Palaemonetes sp.

There are a bunch of Palaemonetes species, so which one are you talking about? The one Mustafa has listed is the standard Ghost shrimp you see as feeders in pets stores, and they do breed in fresh water. There are southern varieties that need brackish water too.
