I got these from Mustafa sometime ago. I must have around 20 of them.
They are called caridina simoni simoni or sri lanka dwarf shrimp. I saw a couple of babies in the tank and managed to take a picture of one of them.
The female is pregnant again. They are a high order form shrimp.
anyone else keeping this shrimp?

I have three of them. Unfortunately many of mine died due to a nitrite poisoning from my tap water.

The other unfortunate thing is that of the three remaining none are female, so it looks like I'll have to purchase some more in order to breed them. I like them, glad they are a part of my collection, and look forward to one day being able to breed them.

They are great. One of my favorites. It is a very good algae eater.

The reason the are #3, Is that I do not have any tanks set-up for Soft-acdic.
I am looking into a R/O filter.
Keep the photos coming.

Here's a shot of a couple of mine that are just hanging around trying not to be noticed. Not the best quality, but all I have to take pictures with is my cheapo 1 megapixal camera. Notice how clear they, you can see the java moss through their bodies. Tough to see them some times.

Hey, those are great pictures no matter what megapixel you have. It's extremely hard taking pictures of shrimp and it's especially hard to take pictures of these particular ones as they are see-through. I'm having tons of trouble even focusing on them with my newly purchased digital SLR camera with a dedicated macro lens! I'll try to take better pictures of these guys for my shrimp varieties page but I might just have to wait until I get an (unfortunately expensive) external flash first as the built in flash just does not do it.
The sri lanka dwarfs are one of my most favorite shrimp species!

In the next few weeks I should be getting my hands on a new digital SLR or at least a point and shoot and then I'll have no excuses save for lack of talent in taking better pictures. Glad to see others that really like these shrimp. Although they lack the brilliant colors of other species there is just something about them that is captivating. Must be the glowing eyes.

They get a very nice pattern in the body...and they just look nice.
