Since I have purchased a new digital SLR camera I have been able to take much better pictures recently. So I have updated the bee shrimp page with a whole bunch of new pictures that nicely show the variability in this species. The various pictures should help in distinguishing this species from the various bumblebee shrimp varieties. I will put up a similar page for the bumblebee shrimp in the future once I have enough photo material.

I bought a Canon EOS 350D (Digital Rebel XT, body only) and a Canon 100mm macro lens. I *absolutely* love the camera and lens. Couldn't be happier. I have not bought an external flash yet, although I hear it's a good idea. For now I am just using the built-in flash in full manual mode. It takes a while to get used to all the different settings in full manual mode but in the end it really seems to be the way to go.
I was thinking about buying the Canon 20D (or even the new 30D) first, but reviews saying that the picture quality of the 350D is pretty much same convinced me to get the 350D. The 350D with the macro lens cost me less than buying a 20D body (i.e. no lens comes with it).
