ph query

what is the lowest ph tht people feel is good for the acid liking shrimp available
i have bee shrimp carrying egg's in water with a pH of 5.8
the main site suggest soft and acidic for many varieties of shrimp and i was wondering if some more clear objective measurements were available

your ph is fine and is within the natural range for these species. In their habitats they live at ph levels of mid 5s to mid 6s. Ignore anyone or any site that insists that ALL shrimp need hard, alkaline water. They just don't know and are guessing (but making it appear like they know).

i read some internet link about micropitting in the chitin shell of the shrimp(is it chitin or is that just insecrts?) with too acidic waters
hence i started to get worried
they suggested this micro pitting lead to 2 things a dull looking shell
and external organisms being able to cling to shell more easily and shrimp having to scratch/clean more often
thoughts on that?

I actually prefer a dull shell they look more classy
