Any chance of survival?

Post by Shrimp&Snails »

I bought two cherry shrimp two days ago (the last ones in the shop) and they were both very pale when I got them with bright orange saddles.

This morning when I checked on them one cherry is very white, the other has started showing red colouration......i've never seen any of my shrimp look this white and although the saddle still has some colour I think this shrimp is going to die......is there anything I can do to save it?

TIA

If the water conditions are right for them, all you can do is wait. I've seen my shrimp do this before they molt. Moving a shrimp to a new tank from a bad situation in an LFS is very stressfull and they usually molt soon after.

Is she eating?

I put a couple of shrimp pellets in before but didn't have chance to see if she ate.

At the moment she's sitting on the side of the filter intake and I noticed a new moult casing. It was quite big so finger's crossed it was hers.

Well so far so good. :D

The shrimp isn't anywhere near as pale as she was before and is now showing some faint reddening.

Often shrimp won't eat when they are ready to molt and don't start again until the harden up. I'll bet they are fine.
