I'm sure many of you have been in the hobby long enough to see this yourselves but yesterday I saw that one of my Ghost shrimp had moulted. I started looking around to see if I could find him and I managed to find a different one AS he was moulting.

I was just wondering how many of you have actually watched your shrimp moult because it was really cool to see :-D

I have seen my RCS moult. Its all over very quickly though, so its quite rare you actually get to see it happening. They seem to almost 'pop' out of their skin dont they! Its pretty amazing to watch :D

They usually go hide, which is why it is so hard to see. If you see a shrimp stretching in odd ways, they are breaking loose the old shell. Just sit & wait and you'll be treated to them jumping out of their skin.

With my big M. Rosenbergii you can see the new shell sort of all wrinked up right after the molt. It then inflates like a baloon and suddenly there is a much larger shrimp. It is really amazing.

Yeah it is amazing, the biggest surprise for me was even the anteana are part of the skeleton  , I thought it was just the shell around the body that grew that way.

Wow, inflates like a balloon ? Really amazing !!

I saw my cherry shrimp molt once. It folded up itself like the alphabet "U". but upside down. Then it immediately straightened itself like the number "1". Then the whole shell came off. It was a matter of just a few seconds. Yes, amazing !
