Cherry Red Shrimp-- I have a couple of questions!

Hello Ya'll. I am new to this board and completely new to the Cherry Shrimp world!!! I have had a few Ghost Shrimp in the past but that was before I learned about Nitrite and I lost them all.
Back about Easter I baught some Cherry Red Shrimp. When they arrived they were very small and were not red at all!!! Over the weeks 3-4 of them have grown to a size of about an inch and have turned a speckled red looking color. The others have remained very little and are just as clear as a Ghost Shrimp! Do I have CRS or did I get something that I did't order? I dont' know much about the Cherry Reds, only what kind of water and such that they like to live in. I am curious as to wether or not I do actually have Cherry Red Shrimp!!!
Also, do these little shrimps carry there eggs under there tail like the Ghost Shrimp? I do know they are breeding ( I saw them about a week ago) and now I have little patches of white eggs on my plants! They are the only thing in the tank (aside from a snail or two that is itty bitty!). I just can't figure out what these eggs are because they are just about as big as the snails I took out!!! Is it snail eggs or shrimp eggs?
Thanks so much for any help you can offer!! I just love these little shrimps and would like to know just a little more about them.

the egg's will be snail egg's if laid on the leaves

cherry shrimp's are using the acroymn RCS ie red cherry shrimp
whilst CRS is being used fro crystal red shrimp

i think we need to see picture to be able to help you classify which shrimp you may have or you can search here or just read the articles and shrip varieties to see pictures that best fit what you have

Welcome to this forum.

fishgeek is right.
Check out the Shrimp Varieties Page or try and post a picture.

If you do have , young Red Cherry Shrimp.
They will not have there full color. The females will get darker with age.

The males have less color than the females. They can range from
no color to red spoted.
And if you are lucky they can sometimes be almost as colorful as the females.

I have started to notice a little bit of red streaking in the little ones so perhaps they are just small mails. I did notice that the larger, red ones are developing yellow saddles! I have been told that means they are carrying eggs? I hope so!! I would like to raise a few little ones, I don't have anything else in the tank so maybe I can get a few babies.

Depending on the type of snail, their eggs are usually clumped together in a mass of clear jelly. With pond snails, the entire jelly mass may easily be the size of the snails.

Saddles are a very good sign. Once you see the boys zooming around the tank, keep your eyes peeled. There will soon be a gals with lots of eggs on her swimmerlets. After that, keep things constant (don't freak out and change things) and after 3-4 weeks there will be babies in your tank.

It is sooo kooool.
