whoopee!!!!

i finally found me 8 bumble-bee shrimps. they're very hard to find in belgium. i never saw them in a shop before....and i'm looking long time allready!

now i bought them from a shrimp-lover.... approx. 1,5$ / piece

i allready saw 2 females carrying eggs

can anybody give me some breeding tips??

Hi Ben,

Bumblebee shrimp are *NOT* Caridina serrata. The bee shrimp belong to the Caridina serrata species group....not the bumblebee shrimp.

As to breeding them, it's the same as with all the other algae eating shrimp...make them happy, give them enough food and they will produce babies.

i see, maybe my translation was bad .... in dutch we call them 'bijengarnaal" (aha : just bee-shrimp?)

i also have "japonicas" but i was told they need salty-water to reproduce...
is this right?

That's a bee shrimp.

bee = bijen

bumblebee = hommel

I am originally from Germany so I understand quite a bit of dutch.

And yes, Japonica larvae need salt in their water.

Hello from Romania!

I have 7 caridina serrata a.k.a Fire shrimp. 2 females carrying eggs now, and i wish to know how to breed them and take care of the babys?
It is better if i move the 2 females in a 5l aquarium with moss?

Hello Mihai,

Welcome to the forum! If your shrimp are called "fire shrimp" they are most likely *not* Caridina serrata. In Europe the Red Cherries are often called "Red Fire", so you probably have Neocaridina denticulata sinensis. Just look in the "Shrimp Varieties" section of this website and search the forum for "red cherry" or "red cherries" to find out more info about them.

As I said, you have a Red Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina denticulata sinensis). That website you linked to has wrong information.
