I have an Australian blue Yabby, he's about 3 now. I have seen a few cray forums in the last couple of days, and seen a few things I didn't know. Is there a ban on trading Crayfish in the UK? And if so what species? I was wondering if Pinchy is illegal or not.

Cheers
Andy

Do you have a picture??? If it is indeed a yabby (Cherax destructor) yes it is illegal in the UK. All exotic crays are illegal to keep or posses in the UK except the "Redclaw" (Cherax quadricarinatus).

Here's a couple I took recently...
I always assumed he was a C. Destructor, although I could be wrong.

The photos are a bit blurred due to my not-so-great camera and equally not-so-great photography skills.

Thanks

Nice Redclaw... 100% Cherax quadricarinatus. Its a male by the way. Only the males get the red patch on their claws hence the name.
