Ok I'm new to egg carrying Cherry shrimp so I have a question. Watching this female has been somewhat of an education for me. Can anyone tell me how close she is to hatching that cluster and why are the eggs green? Photos in gallery named "Cherries" or just search for "eggs".
Thanks in advance for any responses. I feel so dumb about all this hatching stuff.

When the eggs go from yelow to green, hatching is close. Be sure you have fine leaved plants like java moss for them to hide in, that there are no fish in the same tank, and the filter can't suck in the babies. After that you don't need to do anything special, except to be sure you use a sieve over any siphon you use for you weekly 20% water changes. Filter media bags work well for that. The babies do not require special care or isolation from the parents. They eat the same stuff as the adults.

Cherries carry yellow/orange or green eggs.
When the eggs turn to kind of light-gray, the eggs are about to hatch. Indeed, if you take a VERY CLOSE look at the eggs, you can see the tiny eyes.

That all depends on what color they started out as. Mine usually start yellow and turn green just before they hatch. Some start off green and turn grey before they hatch. The important thing is the change of color.
It is alright to ask question you are unsure of.

Hi bludusty,
Ask any question you can't find after a search and you can get responses from members of this forum. I think your shrimp will alright most of the time if the eggs are carried to term (3-4 weeks) and the mother is healthy.
Later.
