How do you breed Atya gabonensis?

Post by Lance »

I've had three vampire shrimp for over a year and a half now. They are all about three inches long each and dark blue.

I would like to know how easy/hard it would be to successfully breed vampires (if any of you have bred them) and how to do it.

From what I have read they require brackish water to breed, is this true?

Also I was looking at azgardens.com and they say that none of their vampires are wild caught; they are all farm raised. Could that be true?

I'm going to attempt it as soon as I get some eggs. I think my shrimp are too young still.

When I do it I'm going to treat them as amano shrimp. I don't think we really have anything else to go on as of yet.

No, this could not be true. What is possible is that their importer has a screened in section of a river or creek and harvests them from that area, and so claims that these are not wild caught, but they were not raised from larva.

Do a search on this forum for azgardens before you buy.
