I don't think it is illegal in the States, it seems that quite a number of people have it in their tank(s).

It is not illegal in the U.S. christmas moss is one of many mosses available that are both beautiful and beneficial to the shrimps in your tank. Some other types of mosses you can get in the U.S. that aren't as common as java moss are erect moss, taiwan moss, weeping moss, and singapore moss.

Anyone who wants to give away some Christmas moss?

'Christmas moss' is almost always available at AquaBid. I may have some extra soon as well.
I have not been able to find any scientific references for this moss. Without knowing its proper scientific name, it is virtually impossible to determine if this moss is prohibitted in the US. That said, it is highly unlikely that this moss is subject to any restrictions beyond the standard argicultural laws.

I searched on there but couldnt find it and I too can not for the life of me find the scientific name of this moss....Im thinking of contacting the Smithsonian, Its too hard to trust people on this common name thing liek with the shrimp or our friend the Blue Galopogus Lobster.

I think they are also known as Willow Moss; but then I am not too sure about that. The latin name used in South East Asia is Fontinalis Antipyretica.

Willow moss is a F. antipyretica, but it is different from Christmas moss and Erect moss. Both of these (or at least the ones most commonly sold as these) are probably Vesicularia species. By the way, despite its widespread publication, Java moss is probably not Vesicularia dubyana. It is probably from the genus Taxiphyllum.
There is much confusion about mosses in the hobby.
