Hi everyone,
I've read that a lot of shrimp larvae need strong light 24 hours a day to survive. Does anyone know if this is true for ghost shrimp larvae? I've been leaving the light on but I wasn't sure if it was necessary since they are in such an advanced larval stage. Thanks for any advice!

Not needed for ghost shrimp. The issue with many shrimp is that they are attracted to light. If the tank light isn't left on they will go toward what ever room light there is. They end up getting stuck against the film on the glass.

The important thing with ghosts is to get the mother out shortly after hatching, and have micro food like golden pearls available, or something like rotifers or moina. Be sure no fish are in the tank with them, and no filter that can suck them up.

I've always left the light on until they morph to encourage round the clock feedings. I seem to have a better survival rate that way. I can't say that it is required though.

I have ghost shrimp...it appears as of last week that one of my females was pregnant (she had green round shaped eggs under her tail for a good week or so). Now those have dissapeared and I don't see anything else in the tank...

Do they turn into some kind of larvae that I'm just missing? where should I look, are there any special precautions I should take?
On a side note one of my big snales just laid a TON of eggs outside(above) the water line..should i keep them moist, like splash them with water or what?

If the eggs were only there a week, she lost them. It takes 3-4 weeks for them to hatch.

The larva are tiny and look sort of like up-side-down seahorses. If there are any fish in with them, they will eat them all.

You have to stop hijacking threads by double posting the exact same thing that you have already posted in your own thread. Otherwise I will have to take some action, so consider this a warning. Just have some patience and someone will reply eventually. Posting the same question twice in two different thread in LESS than an hour is not going to make you any friends here. Besides the ghost shrimp issue has been discussed about a million times here, so do a search before asking. That's another rule you just broke.

And the snail question does not belong here. Do yourself and me/us a favor and read the rules before you continue posting. It is required.
