A few weeks ago one of my shrimp had her babies.
I counted at least 15.
The tank is half full of Java moss and the top is covered in Hornwort … so I assume I missed some.
This is the first time I had kept Cherry shrimp.
The LFS sold me a female with eggs.

Depends on the age of the female and the amount of food they have available. It ranges from a handful eggs (starved young shrimp) to 50-60.

Thanks for the replies.
The shrimp are doing quite well thanks, breeding and growing at quite a rate. Quite well fed with a variety of yummy foodstuffs and plenty of space to roam and interact. Now if I could only find some Crystal Reds.....sigh

Mustafa: What would happen to the Cherry Red shrimps if so many generation of inbreeding (brothers x sisters) occur ?
Is it advisable to add an outsider into the bloodline ?

Assuming sufficient food, can one expect most/all of these to survive to breeding age?

Yes. And this species grows very quickly, too, when they are fed properly. All my other shrimp species grow *MUCH* slower.

Crystal Reds is a different story. They are by far not as easy to breed as the Red Cherries. I just have my first female running around with eggs (finally!) and I counted around 20 eggs only. But I don't see any reason why there should not be more....so I need to observe more females before I can give a qualified answer.

It seems they will drop their eggs at the slightest instance of stress.
