ok guys, don't laugh.. I'm trying to identify my ghost shrimp so I can submit them for my local club's breeder's award program. I have been searching the net and believe I have narrowed them down to Palaeomonetes sp. either Kadakensis or paludosus but have found nothing on how to identify them from eachother. They were bought from wal-mart (not sure if they all get the same ones or not). Most of them have little red/orange bands on their wrists just below the claw on the main front legs. Is there any hope of a positive id? thanks, Kyle

I'd give it about 99% that it is paludosus. If you look closely at the rostrum (snout) it has what look to be teeth on both the top & bottom. If it has 2-3 teeth it is kadiakensis if it has 3-4 it is paludosus. If it iis exactly 3 then you need to see other characteristics.
