Well, the eggs may have hatched. This past weekend, one of our female's eggs hatched and I saw some wee tiny pinky babies clinging to the sides of the tank and sitting on leaves but after that, I cannot find them--but that isn't unusual (in my tanks at least) since the babies seem to like to hide in the mulm and places out of the way where there is lots of micro food to eat. Of course, she may have "aborted" some of the eggs too.

I really hadn't considered that, since I only saw her with eggs 2 days ago. But you're right--that is indeed a possibility, especially as she might have been hiding fot the past couple of weeks.

Time will tell!

Well, good luck with the babies hiding then, who knows, they just might crawl out of hiding and shout "Surprise!" :-D

Do you know if you have a male shrimp in the tank. If not the female might dropped the eggs because they arent fertilized.

I think there is at least one male in there. Is there a definitive way to tell? At least one doesn't have yellow ovaries, and isn't as "deep" in build as what I know are females.

I heard that male is less red than female. If someone can provide a picture of a male and a female side by side it would be much earlier to see the difference.

There is a great deal of variation in the amount of red a Cherry shrimp has. Males tend to have less, but there are females with relatively little red. I think it is easier/more reliable to look for the female's low-hanging carapace.
