I hope my picture works( hope i've not broken any rule before i've started.). I'm trying to find out what type of shrimp I have, one site says its a boxer shrimp
Macrobrachium sp.
But looking at your site it looks like a female Macrobrachium faustinum.
I'll be greatfull of any help you have to offer.
thanks for reading Dog.

Maybe you could get a better picture? From my angle this looks like a crayfish.

I'm looking at the tail, or lack there of. Could just be a trick of the picture. I'm also not sure about the rostrum being more shrimplike than cray like, but a better picture will tell the tail. I've seen crays that look similar to this.

This is definitely a Macrobrachium and not a crayfish. I doubt it's one of the caribbean species (such as M. faustinum) as they are not sold in stores. It's most likely one of the Indian species...but a better picture (sideview) would help.

This is the only decent picture I have just now. I'm still getting to grips with my cameras macro and super macro.

Maybe it is a young male macro? The claws look a little on the large side for a female to me...

It looks pretty cool but not one of the species I have kept. How many do you have. This one looks like a male.

OK, now I see. Its tail was under the leaf in the first photo. Yes, a nice Macro of some sort.

How big is the mystery critter? Very nice pic, BTW. Looks good on the yellow sand.

I purchased a very similar female specimen under the heading of "chameleon prawn."
