Well almost.

My tiger shrimp that were born in my tank are now a nice size and one of my females is berried....she's had them for over five days now so she's going to be a new mummy soon. Some of her sisters have nice green saddles and will become berried within a week or so.

Shall I add a few new tigers from another bloodline to prevent inbreeding problems? The males and females are all from the same single female who sadly died during the summer heatwave. At what point will inbreeding become a problem?

I think inbreeding is pretty much a myth except when you are selectively breeding shrimp. When I first started my colony I was worried about it and got shrimp form several dealers. I have not put in any new blood to my shrimp for almost a year now and don't see any issues.

Yeah...don't worry about inbreeding. One of my red cherry colonies has been going strong for about 4 years now and I have never added any new shrimp to that colony. I know famous/respected fish breeders who've had colonies of the same line of fish for, get this, over 30 years and report that their current fish look just as good as their first ones.

I finaly have a few of my own. They are doing great. Except I have no Female with eggs.

Shrimp vs children:
Easier to clean up after.
Don't argue about their food (they LIKE veggies).
Don't leave their toys all over the house/yard/driveway.
This could go on and on...
