(RCS) They are still in there - I see them if I search. But for the past week or so they are mostly hanging out in the back of the tank in the plants. Tank looks empty at first glance. I do regular water tests and parameters seem OK - yesterday was ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0 (I never have much nitrate as I think the plants use it up - I had nitrates of 5 on Thursday and did a small water change, hence the 0 reading yesterday).

Granted - I only have 5 adults and a few babies in the tank - but the tank is only 2.5 gallons and I am used to seeing them much more active. Any idea what might be going on? I have 3 female and 2 male adults. One female is berried.

Give it a 2 months for those eggs to become nice sized juveniles, and you won't ever have a problem finding shrimp again!

I've been having a similar issue Wendyjo. Usually if I sit and watch for a while, I see a lot more then on first glance.

I can't wait till all the eggs hatch :-D

I have a few babies in there as the females were pregnant when I got them last month. It just seems like everyone is hiding all of a sudden. Maybe I'll take out a few plants so they at least have to swim around out in the open a bit to get from plant to plant.

Looking at my 10 gallon, you mostly see plants, sometimes as many as 10-12 shrimp swimming actively. When the tank is disturbed to net out a few, they seem to appear from nowhere. I know there are at least a couple hundred shrimp in there, but you'd never suspect so many just looking at the tank. If you look closer, there are shrimp on the plants, shrimp on the bottom, shrimp hanging off the floating plants...
