How big are redclaw babies?

The female that was carrying eggs seems to not be carrying them anymore, and I was just wondering how big the babies are. I'm not sure if the eggs were fertile or not. The tank is 125 gallons with plenty of rocks and wood, so there are places to hide. I can't see any babies. Do they hide? Are they as small as baby cherry reds? Just curious.

Macrobrachium assamense young are very small and not easy to spot especially on a lightly coloured bottom.

I really hope that the eggs did hatch! Here ase some pictues showing how difficult it is to actually spot the young.

My substrate pretty much looks just like that (sand), so i guess I'll set up a chair in front of the tank tomorrow and search.

Wow  gabs, the baby is so well camouflaged in that sand, I can only see the red circle in your pictures

Well, I had all but given up hope on any babies, since I looked and looked and looked, all without success for babies, and just assumed none had hatched. My lone female hasn't carried eggs again for whatever reason. Yesterday, though, I was doing a water change, and while dumping more water in, I saw a juvenile red claw crawling around on a log! It was about 3/4 of an inch long, with bright orange claws already. Awesome! I searched for about 30 minutes but couldn't find any others, but there might still be some, hopefully.

:D It is good that you had found the one. You may still be surprised since this one was not detected until now. Hope you find more.

Fellow Cryptomundo reader, TKD? Heh, heh. I've searched the tank a bunch of times and still can't find any others. Actually, I haven't actually seen the original baby, either! Do they hide a lot as youngsters when there are adults around? I know when I got the original 8 from Mustafa, all about the same size as the youngster I saw, they stayed out in the open. They also had the tank to themselves.

Nope, Bigfootforums. :-D

But the Mcros would definately hide from the adults as they will get eatten if the adults can catch and find them.

 Pretty good reason to hide. Also, could be a reason for the young to have disappeared :(
