My rcs breeder is 5g has been established 6 mo with fish. Moved fish @ 1 1/2 months ago all has been going well. We had had 2 batches of babies and 2 berried females. While we were searching for baby shrimp I noticed tiny white things crawling on the glass. The are small enough to go into sponge filter pours. Nitrate is between 0-5ppm. All other testing supplies are at school. I cleaned the algae off the glass over the holiday just like I've done before.. whith an algae sponge. I did a pwc 20% just to be safe. Refilled with bottle water as I always do. Can't see those critters well enough even w/ a magnifying glass to see what they look like. Last night I noticed 2 dead shrimp and 2 more this morning. I read on the site @ someone else have a similar problem. HELP! HELP ME PLEASE! I am planning a trip to Longview to lfs for a net & another test kit. What else might I need. I'm going to try to move the live ones especially my berried females.

First, I woold check the water parameters since the problem occured right after the pwc. Has there been a change in the shrimp behavior, are they more/less active or stopped eating? Are the dead shrimp all of the same size/age?

I watched the 2 die last night. I first thought they were trying to molt. They kinda jumped around wiggled their little feet and fell on their back dead. One was a younger male and one was a little older female and it was the same this morning. Would it help to remove the living ones to a new tank just incase the tank is contaminated?

That is a judgement call you will have to make. If you see an immediate/out right problem then sure get them out but if you think you have time to analyze and take care of the problem afterwards then you shold wait. Don't be worried about the little white things right now.

"Critters" are not the reason why your shrimp are dying. I moved your topic about the "tiny white critters" to the "other invertebrates" forum, so there is no reason to try to post it here again. Plus, I would read the articles section of this website very thoroughly (especially the article "Why are my shrimp dying?" to try to narrow down what your problem might be. Beyond that, there is really not much anyone can do for you as we are not there to look at your tank first hand. If there is nothing we can go by then we also can't provide any useful information.

I bet you it's one of the things already mentioned in the articles but you just haven't noticed it or thought of it.
