I am a true crayfish addict if that helps. I have clarki, blue alleni, white alleni, schufeldti, quadricarinatus and Hoa Creeks. Oh and I just got red-eyed blue alleni "dragons" this week thanks to a friend in Canada.

Oh, I see it was you CanadianCray. In any event, I'd love to see what one of these guys looks like. How big do they get?

badflash, no i've never had apple snails that I know of. What is it that you want to see and know how big it gets?

Actually it was another member here that turned me on to this site.

If it's ok I will sit back and read a bit to see what's going on here. I have already read a lot of stuff that is very good info for craykeepers! The most important thing that I have read is that crayfish don't like new tanks. I have found that they are much better off and do far better in very well established tanks, but not established for anything other than themselves.

I only say that because when I first started keeping crayfish I stuck them in a tank that had been going for several years for tropical fish. The gravel had never been vacumed and the tank had only been topped off with water when necessay. That earned me the title of "Crayfish Killer of all times." I've learned a little in the few years since then.

Your dragon. How big does it get?

Here are some pics of Veras Blue Dragons. They get the same size as regular P. alleni.

I figured they were, but I haven't found any docs on how big P. alleni gets, and the search feature here is being finicky again. I just searched for "P. alleni" and again for "alleni" and found nothing, even though this post is here. Go figure.

I really depends on how you measure them most honest breeders state measurement based soley on body length. While other factor in the arms & claws into the measurements.

I know from first hand experience P. alleni can grow 5-6" in body length.

Thanks for posting the pics for me CanadianCray, I haven't taken any of the dragons yet.

I've never had a blue alleni get more than 5 - 6 inches either.
