Cherry shrimp plus babies

My lone female cherry shrimp gave birth on Jan 25th. So these babies are 3 1/2 days old. I don't have a good camera or macro lens so these aren't very good but I thought they were neat.
I named this one "Louis"
Each of the following pictures has at least 3 babies in it, although most of them out of focus.
I ran upstairs to get my camera the day they were hatched because I had a good picture of a less than 1 day old one next to a big CRS but it was gone when I got back. Maybe next time.

Provided you could actually keep track of which one you named, if it turns out to be a female you'll have to change it to Louise.

It only takes 1 pregnant female to start a colony. Looks like you are of to a great start! best of luck with them.

Congrats, arg! Is this a RCS left over from when you first setup the tank for CRS?

Yep, when I set up the tank initially I pulled one male and female from my community tank. The rest of the population was destroyed by my Yoyo loaches once they decided that shrimp were tasty.

Thanks for sharing this information. Just another reason to have a shrimp only tank

I thought they might eat some, but they actively hunted for them once they got a taste. They were in there to get rid of a massive snail party, which they eventually did. Two months without worrying about it and one day no more shrimp and lots of fat loaches.

Congratulations on the babies! In my experience loaches are smart, fast, and always on the lookout for food. I have a trio of dwarf loaches(Sidthmunki-sorry if that's spelled wrong) and even at their small size they dominate my tank and terrorized some poor cory cats that I had to relocate.
That's cute that you named the little guy!
