Can someone give me an idea of the growing rate of the tiger comparatively to the cherry or cf balbauti (who is very slow)

Put them kinda in the middle of the two. Tigers are somewhat in the range of CRS and Bee shrimp as far as breeding.

I agree also. But once you have the right conditions for them, the Tiger shrimps are very prolific.

i had female ready to release young , did not see any baby and and female not have egg anymore , will check better

My tiger shrimp had been carrying eggs for over 25 days (the temperature in the tank is set at 23C) so I was eager to see the young after she released the eggs.

I was getting frustrated, as I was not able to see any youngsters in my tank!! But after hours of staring I saw a youngster darting away from an adult crs. Yippie [:)] The young tiger shrimp was hard to spot since it is almost transperent.

Hi gabs, Have you had any problems with the tiger shrimp cross breeding with the CRS in your tank?

gabs, it is not a good idea to house different shrimp in the same tank, as they will interbreed and produce hybrids and then your ongoing shrimp population will end.

It is alright to mix Red Cherry shrimps with CRS or mix with Tiger shrimps. But never mix CRS and Tiger shrimps together since they are basically the same species and will interbreed (which has been reported by numerous people).

Interbreeding the 2 species of shrimps has never been my goal. I will setup 3 new tanks of approxiamtely 80 litres each to house the different species of shrimps and maybe my best grades of crs.

This is the first time the female tiger was carrying eggs. I can't be sure if the 2 species of shrimps have already cross bred. Hope not!

i have to say they dont have the same grow rate as cherry but i found they are growing quite fast in my opinion.
nothing to compare with green chrimp though who is the slower i see for now.

True, green shrimp seem to be the slowest growing dwarfshrimp that has been discussed so far
