My new Hinomaru's

Hi everyone,
Before I ask my question I just wanted to let you all know I finally have snowflakes that are about three weeks old. I also have babie Greens which are only a few days old, (dang they are tiny.) All my other shrimp are doing well. My Crystals and bees have babies also and believe it or not they are not hard to find in the 55 gal. tank.
Ok now to my question, I have had a ten gallon tank set up for several months, its actually the tank the greens and snowballs were not breeding in so I removed them and left the tank up trying to decide what I should do with it, well I found something (Hino's). My water parameters are good,
Ammonia .0
Nitrite .0
Hardness-moderate hard
P.h 6.6
temp 24c, trying to lower a degree
Ok, I have a sponge fiter in there and if I turn the air on to it my shrimp go to the top of the tank and partially out of the water and they do this only where the air bubbles are at nowhere else. If I turn off the air to the filter the shrimp all go back to grazing, whats up with that? Any Idea what might be going on?
Should I take out the sponge filter and replace with an overhead filter thats in my 55 gallon tank? My 55 has a Ehiem 2128 on it plus two small over heads, so I think I could take one from there.
I plan on putting the Hinomaru's in a 30 gal. in a few months, so the ten gallon wont be their permenant home.
