Hello,

I receive a nice group of Caridina fernandoi , they are alreay start breeding.
i make a search on the forum and found only one entry for this shrimp.
anybody have have info on them

like pictures , specific shape, etc....

How do you know that you actually have Caridina fernandoi? This shrimp is *usually* not imported and as far as I know only got brought back once or twice by private hobbyists when they went on vacation to Sri Lanka.

When you say..."they started breeding", do you mean they are carrying eggs or you already have young? How large are the eggs? Did you see any larvae. Caridina fernandoi supposedly produce larvae that can survive in freshwater.

That's a Neocaridina sp. for sure and not C. fernandoi. If you don't mind me asking...who sold you these? You can PM me if you want. I just can't understand why people sell shrimp under all kinds of names if they aren't even sure themselves what they have. Whatever happened to honesty? I guess "I don't know what species it is" does not sell well.....

well , when i read your first reply i feel something bad
i am in mode research now to found excatly the origin.
what i know for now, this shrimp come from a breeder from germany in the europe hobby.
will let you know what i found.

they are easy to breed , if i check the number of berried female i already have and breed in freshwater, i have young in my tank.

No matter what species it is
It is a nice addition to the Hobby.

I am liking the "Wild" Type more than the Human refined strains.

Are the eggs on the smaller side ?

egg are on the bigger side
would say bigger than the cherry, but the shrimp itself is bigger than the cherry.

for now i label the tank Neocaridina sp.

mine have a greenish look.

yes it is a nice specie, but now i want to to know how to call it :)

I think that this is the worst part about this Hobby.

Making sure that the species that you purchase is labeled with the correct name.

And if they are wild caught, there are alot of undescribed species or you need to know someone with access to scientific papers and the time to go through them for you.

No one ever said this Hobby would be a easy one
