This is a picture of the first female Cherax holthuisi or commonly know as Apricot Lobster or Pink Coral Lobster

They range in color from a Pinkish color or Orangish and even a Faint Blue over Orange.






Pictured below is a Female

Look at the 3rd set of legs from the bottom.
You will see 1 oval shape on each leg.

This is how to tell it is a Female.
The male sexual organs are on the first set of legs.

Here are a couple pictures of young Apricots.

They have been off the Tail for 5 days.

That is awesome , you can see the molt on the second picture!

I have been trying to get updated pictures of these little Crays.
But, they love to hide and they blend in very well with the substrate.

These crays are great but at least the wild-caught ones hide all day long (except when they rush to get the food and run back to their hiding place). I bought a pair several months ago, but my large male got killed by the female right after he molted. There was no agression whatsoever before the molt and they even shared their hiding space together. My lone female has been sharing her tank with a species of shrimp (they don't hurt the shrimp). What do we learn from this? They need large tanks and lots of hiding places.

John, make sure you observe the bahavior of the babies as they grow up. I wonder if captive-bred animals lose their shyness and wander around during the day or if they also hide all day and only run around at night.

The youngsters at this age are out in the open, but stay to the back of the tank.

Some of them are almost 1 inch






They are fun to watch at feeding time,
There claws are just a waving.

Wow, very nice. are all of the young white before they color up or do some of them stay white. It just reminded me of snowball shrimp

These are the first offspring from this species.
It looks like there are several different colorations.

I will have to wait and see what colors they will be, as they grow.

I will post pictures as they grow.

Good job, John! This is a great species of crayfish with a nice coloration! Looks like the offspring are a lot less shy, too. Keep the updates coming as usual!

There are now 3 basic colorations.

Blue
Chaulk White
White with a Black tint.

I will try a get better pictures of each coloration.
