Will this buffer my PH, KH & GH? My 10 Gallon & 20g is getting on the low side (ph, kh, gh) because of CO2. from 7.4 - 7.0 ph & kh drop 1 & also gh. Do you think this will work? Do I have to crush the oysters shell or it is fine like the whole half shell?

I was worried about my cherry red shrimp!

Get a cuttlebone. Break off a chunk. Throw it in. No worries.

BTW, are saying that your pH is 7 and your KH is 1deg?

kh drop to 1 deg. (used to be 3).

Brad is probably wondering (as I am) how you have almost no KH and GH and still a PH of up to 7.4. Those numbers usually do not go together for long.

Ph is 7.0 a .4 drop. from what I have before.

Sorry for the confusion!

That was my confusion, especially given that he is injecting CO2. A pH of 7 makes a little more sense. However, if you continuing injecting CO2, you won't have a pH of 7 for long.

In a non-shrimp-related thought, I am still a bit confused. With a pH of 7 and a KH of 1deg, you should have about 3ppm CO2. While this is higher than the amount that results from atmospheric equilibrium, it may not be enough to make of a difference for your plants to be worth your while.

Kh & Gh drop 1 deg.

kh used to be 4 degree now it is 3 a 1.0 drop
gh used to be 8 degree now it is 7 a 1.0 drop

Sorry again I should have clarrify everything (not very good in posting)

yes! White clouds (adults & 1 week old Babies). Do you think the adult harrast my cheriess? Should I transfer them back to my 10 gallon w/ cherry barb (they get along just fine but no babies). My other 10 gallon is not yet stablish.

Thanks you,

If the Whiteclouds don't bother their own tiny fry, then they are also not going to go after the shrimp. Shrimp do climb out of their tanks sometimes....it does not necessarily have to be bad water parameters, especially if your shrimp are breeding and eating just fine.

I thank you for your very very knowledgeble advise.

Hope someday I can breed cherrys & other shrimp like you do! But first I have to get my hands on some more cherry's. I think I only have females.
