Hello, I’m new to the crayfish world. A week ago I saw for the first time the cherax zebra at a store. We don’t have in Israel the variety of species as most of you. Those zebra’s came to Israel by a chance and I’ve decided to buy some and breed them.
I’ve obtained 5 females and 3 males all about 6 cm (2.5 inch).
I have a couple of questions.
1. How do I know its really zebra and not tiger cherax?
I found a German site which explains on the two species but I don’t understand any German. Here are the links:
Zebra: http://www.wirbellose.de/arten.cgi?acti ... &artNo=104
Tiger: http://www.wirbellose.de/arten.cgi?acti ... &artNo=289

2. How big dose they get?
3. What is the average size that they start to breed? (I ask fore size since I don’t know their age)

thanks
barak

From what I understand.
The Tiger & Zebra Crays may be the same species, just color / Pattern variation.

The only way I can tell the difference is the width of the stripe on the tale.

Hi barak
I believe the max size of these is around 12 cm or 4.5 inches.

I hope this helps
