Hi, I received the following shrimp and am unsure of which type they are or maybe a mixture. Any help on which type they are will be appreciated. I am working on my camera skills as well. I will try to get better pictures, if you can't tell anything from the pictures I have here. Thanks.

Is the first shrimp pictured red/white ? I think they are bumblebee shrimp as listed in the shrimp varieties section. I have some myself and one of the females is berried.

Thanks Neonshrimp. I thought that was what they were, but have not been at this long enough to have confidence with some of them. Congratulations on your berried one. I bet the babies are really cute with those stripes on them. Do you keep them with any other shrimp?

I keep them with my Cherry shrimp and they all seen to be healthy. So id the shrimp in your first picture red or was it the camera?

Do a search on "new bee" and you'll see that that term is not appreciated by the Moderator. There are several good threads on the differences between Bee shrimp and Bumblebee shrimp. If you can get a bettwe pic of the side of the shrimp we can easily tell the difference. Your searches should turn up the thread.

Thanks badflash for the info. I am struggling trying to identify some of the shrimp I receive when they don't look quite like the pictures I can find. I will try to get a better picture of the shrimp. I am waiting for a part for my camera to get here so I can down load pictures again.

The first shrimp is a brown/red. Not red like a CRS.

It still looks nice, thanks again for the pictures.

Here is the best picture I have been able to get. Hopefully, you can tell which type this one is. I appreciate the help.

Hi John, I have 3 berried females right now. No babies yet, but hopefully it won't be real long. The adults are looking good. Here is a more current picture.

Is the coloration a Rusty Brown ?

Thanks John and Yes, They are all that color. Very pretty shrimp. IMO I really like them and hope I will be able to keep some of the young alive. I have been using R/O water, like you suggested. They seem to like the conditions in the tank they are in, so.....keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope it works out for you adimeatatime. The first batch of eggs my bumblebee carried did not seem to produce surviving young as I have not seen any. She has been barried for the second time for about 3 weeks. They seem to carry the eggs longer than Cherry shrimp do, the first batch of eggs were carried for 5 weeks before they were gone. Please share any suggestions or experiences you have had with them, thanks.

Last spring I ordered some shrimp that were listed as Zebra (turned out to be Tigers) and in the shipment were some that I now believe were BumbleBee . I had the bumblebees in a tank that was acidic and one night I was sitting watching and out of hiding come 2 little bumblebees. I lost all of them when my son was in an accident and I wasn't able to keep my water changes up for a time.

The substrate I'm using now keeps the PH around 6.5. I change the water 1x a week and the only tank mates are snails. We have well water that has a ph of about 8.0, but we have an RO unit on our sink. The tank is planted and also has a lot of moss for them to hide in. If I manage to keep any alive I will try to get any readings you think might be helpful. I bought a ph meter like Mustafa recommends and it makes checking the tanks much easier.
