I was taking shots of my snowball shrimp today and caught this young female just right and you can actually see individual eggs forming in her saddle. I'll tell ya a good camera will show you things I'd never see with the naked eye. I use a Cannon SD850IS which has a very reasonable price tag and great Macro.
Cheers, Bill

Hey Bill,
I took the liberty of changing the name for the shrimp in your title and in your message text from "pearl shrimp" (which is commonly Macrobrachium kulsiense...see shrimp varieties section) to "Snowball shrimp." I know in Germany they use "white pearl shrimp" as a name for this shrimp, but I have always thought that was a bad idea since they also use "pearl shrimp" for M. kulsiense. That's just bound to create confusion among hobbyists using common shrimp names to communicate with each other. (I just wish certain marketing-oriented people in Germany would stop giving English common names to "new" shrimp just because it sounds "cool" in German and sells better in Germany than just "plain old" German names...leave the English names to people who actually speak english in daily lives.."maybe" we'll do a better job over here...

)
Anyway, nice picture and yes, a good camera makes a world of a difference in the macro world. When I got my digital SLR with the 100mm macro lens, a whole new world opened up for me.

Hi Mustafa,
Yup it was a typo and I did it at both places I posted the photo and was quickly correct at both as well

Thanks for pointing it out and I guess I was having a senior moment.
Cheers, Bill
