Hello everyone,
A quick question for you breeders.
My orange clarkii released her hatch a couple of weeks ago and now I'm noticing quite a few that look to be albino.
Could this be the case or do the newly hatched young go pale white when they molt?
TIA

Any pictures? I have yet to see an albino crayfish. Even the white clarkiis are not albinos.

Thx for the response Mustafa,
Ya as soon as I read your post I realized how stupid my question was.
Anyway, approximately 1/4 of the brood is white.
So I guess that means that my oranges clarkii aren't pure?
Here's the best closeup I could get.

Thanks for the picture. Yes, it looks like your oranges were mixed with the whites at some point in their genetic past. Looks like you need to do some selective breeding. On the plus side, you got some free white P. clarkiis if you don't have them already.Aquaman wrote:

On the other hand...what are the chances of this mutation simply being spontaneous and having nothing to do with previous white crayfish?

White clarkii are worth more than orange. Count your blessings!
