On sexing advice received here I have moved female from Tank #3 into Tank #2 with my known male. He chased her around for awhile but they seemed to have settled down now.

The female I moved into Tank #2 with my big male has berried up. I will try to post a pic tomorrow.

36 days in and I Ssill haven't seen babies yet. Female haas been hiding for weeks now. I lifted up her log last week and she was fine and still berried. I hope she is not just sitting under there eating babies as they hatch.LOL.

Here's a couple of pics of dad.

These guys don't eat their young. Right before hatching the female will either dig a hole or find a hideout to release the babies. The babies will sit with the mother (and even climbing on the mother) for a day or two before venturing out on their own. As the young get older they are in danger of getting hurt by the parents and each other if the tank is overcrowded. This behavior is similar to the way cichlids are.

Well after 36 days since berrying, mom is out and I counted 6 babies before my eyes hurt to much. They are so tiny and so colourless they are hard to spot. I will try to get pics but I still haven't got that macro lens yet. Come on Santa!!

Are you keeping them in the same tank as the parents, or moving them to the empty tank ?

They are in with just the female right now. In will be moving the female back in with her male in a few days and let the babies grow out on their own.

Hello,

It would be interesting to see an update on this as I am about to begin a red claw breeding experiment.
