Hello all!
I went on a little hiking trip a couple months ago to Porcupine Gorge near Hughenden in Queensland, Australia and by nature of fooling around ended up finding a little critter. it was found in a stream in a massive gorge, with nice water flow.
it doesn't look like a 'dwarf shrimp' species as its arms are long compared to its body, but i find it hard to think it would be a macro. Here are a couple of photos although i'm not sure if they will come out properly. there were two shrimp one has equal length claws the other has the right shorter than the left.
having said that i have no idea about shrimps and their classes, so would like to ask the opinion of the good people in this forum as to who this little fella is!

best regards

awof

It's a female Macrobrachium sp.. Can't really tell which exact species of Macrobrachium it is. If you happen to ever catch a male and take a picture of it feel free to post it here. Males have a lot larger claws than the females and should be larger, too.

cheers mustafa, looking through the forum has shown your replies/comments to be most informative. would you be able to guess at the age by the exoskeleton shape and saddles, and the habits/behaviour by the colouration?
ps: it would be a massive trip out just to go shrimping for males heheh!

cheers
