Baby Cherry Colorless?

Hi,

I have some of the most deepest red cherry shrimps but for some reasons their fries are not nearly close to the parents. I only have Cherry and Yamato in my tank.

Some of the older fries are 1 cm in length yet spots very little red. Fishes in my tank are Otocinclus and Boraras Bridgittae. The tank is heavily planted as a shrimp haven.

I feed them occasionally with Wardley's Spirulina Tabs. Most of the time they feed on algae in the tank. Is the color of the baby shrimps normal?

Thanks

Yes it's normal. It takes them several months to fully color out.

Thx for the comments. Will specific food help bring more intense color? I am beginning to see some color on the fries that are about 1.5cm in size.

Yes, food such as spirulina or other algae in general will help since they are high in astaxanthin, which brings out red and orange colors in animals. However, if you just feed them normal food or just let them eat enough algae in the aquarium they will get red, too. No special food is needed really.
