i bought my batch of cherry at a pretty young age.
at about slightly lesser then 1cm.
but till now it isnt breeding. its more then a month already.
non-died.

Questions
1) how long does it take for a cherry shrimp to get matured?
2) if i got yellow patches on the back of a female does it mean its matured?
3) if they are about 1.2cm ~ 1.5cm long with yellow patches does it mean its matured?
4) how do i know if its matured already?
5) after mating how long does it take before the female produces its egg?

6) im having a 18L tank with 30 shrimps. isit not going allow breeding?
7) also im having a tempreture change from 21~25 daily due to the air con, on and off. water change of 10% weekly. add water that evaporated due to the on.ing of fan for the time that air con is off. is that going to stop breeding too?

Thanks in advance and for the attention spent!
=)

0) Did you search the forum? I mean REALLY search?
Did you read the species page: http://www.petshrimp.com/redcherryshrimp.html ?

Just checking.

What are you meaning by "matured"... I am assuming you define that as "old enough to breed" 2-3 months from hatching perhaps.

> 2) if i got yellow patches on the back of a female does it mean its matured?

No, it means it is a female that is growing eggs... later those will drop and the shrimp will become 'berried'

> 3) if they are about 1.2cm ~ 1.5cm long with yellow patches does it mean its matured?

See above.

> 5) after mating how long does it take before the female produces its egg?

20-40 days.

> 6) im having a 18L tank with 30 shrimps. isit not going allow breeding?

Hmm... thats a lot of shrimp for the size of the tank. They may breed less with that much crowding. I have 30 in a 40L tank that breed like rabbits.

Shouldn't hurt them, Cherries are tough. Your shrimp are still young. Give them time.

i did read through the whole articles and shrimp varities already.
but i dont know why i cant seem to find anything regarding maturing and breeding.
maybe i didnt read through well enought.

anyway infopimp thanks alot for the infomation
it helped solved my questions that are stucked in my head for a super duper long time.
and im was starting to worry every sigle shrimp would die every now and then.
since someone told me, if your shrimps breed then your water parameters are fine.

anyway, just hope someone could help answer my last questions:

with the current water parameter and situation, am i ok to breed CRS in this tank after transfer some cherrys to another tank?

ph: 6.5
tempreture: 21~25 daily
water change: weekly

anyway, just to keep you guys updated with pictures:

It all depends, CRS are a whole different shrimp and require different conditions. They also mature more slowly and will start to brees at 3-4 months if they are in good shape and conditioned. There is a lot of information in this forum on them, happy reading
