I have never breed amano shrimp, but I have some larva floating around a 10 gallon tank. Right now I am tring to figure out if when or if they have metamorphed. I have read that when they metamorph they will crawl on the ground, but I have not seen this yet. The larva are about 7 mm long.

Here is my queston. Most of them have their swimmerets, is this also a sign of metamorphosis? I ask this because the last two days I saw larva floating on its back upside down like it was struggling for its life. It would float all the way to the bottom and then flick up an inch or two...These guys had their swimmeretts. I am wondering if they have metamorphed and are struggling because of the salt water?

thanks

They would not be struggling because of the saltwater, they are adapted to that even as postlarvae (mini-shrimp after metamorphosis). If your shrimp don't look like miniature versions of of the adults they have not turned into postlarvae yet. If they have legs, they *will* run around the tank.
