This depends on how developed the eggs in their ovaries are (their overies are in the "neck" area). If they fed very well and the eggs in the ovaries develop quickly, then they could actually start "laying eggs" (and carrying them around) the same day or the next day. Sometimes it can take longer, though (from days to weeks). So, in my opinion, it all depends on the amount of food.

Thanks for the information Mustafa !
Wow, ovaries near the neck - so different from human beings'. In this case, they can be very productive.

After the eggs are "carried around", how long will the baby shrimp hatch?

Depends on the species and water temperature, but 3-4 weeks is accurate for most algae eating shrimp.

It also depends upon the feeding as transmission of sperm is usually carried shortly after the female moults.
