RCS cross breeding

Greetings all,

New to the forum, but not to shrimp (per se)

My husband and I have a 10g RCS tank. We're planning a new, larger tank for them since the colony is growing. My question is, are there any other "dwarf" shrimp species that will not cross breed with the RCS? It seems like everything I've found on some of the others state there will be some crossbreeding and the offspring wouldn't be attractive. We would like to have more than one variety in the new tank once it's settled.

Hi, and welcome to the forum! You can keep any shrimp with the RCS that does not belong to the Neocaridina genus. So, any Caridina won't usually crossbreed with RCS.

Thank you for the welcome and the answer.

That;s what I was thinking, but I thought I should try the shrimp pros just to be sure. :)

It's always a good idea to verify, especially with all the misinformation out there posing as "reliable" information. :)
