This tank is filtered with undergravel filters using reverse flow. The sponge filters are two Hydrosponge from ATI with panty hose over them as a pre-filter, Powered by two Marineland 660R powerheads for 180 gallon per hour flow each. The powerheads pull water through the sponge filters and blow the water and air down the riser tubes and under the filter plates, and then the water and any debris comes up through 3/4 to 1 inch aquarium gravel with a layer of eco-complete substrate topped with a 20 pound bag of very aged aquarium gravel (up to 1/4 -3/8 inch in size) that has been in that tank for over three years.

Under the filterplate and in the substrate/gravel are a copious amount of live Blackworms.
