Newbie with Cherry Shrimp hugging their tails

I recently aquired six cherry shrimp (as far as I can tell, 4 females and two males). Where I stay, they are truly difficult to come by. This was, in all likelihood, my one and only chance to ever own them.
But this has thrown me somewhat in the deep end.
I observe my shrimp often bend themselves over double, hugging their tails. What on earth are they up to?
